FAQ
How long does it take to charge an electric car?
If you just want to put 100 miles of range on your car for tomorrow’s daily commute, it will take 22 hours with a Level 1—which is technically impossible to complete overnight. A Level 2 charger, however, will give your car or truck 100 miles of range in just 4.5 hours. An added benefit is that since you won’t have to charge your EV around the clock, a Level 2 charger allows you to save money by taking advantage of any evening off-peak rates offered by your utility company (which are becoming more prevalent, especially during the hottest summer months).
If you pull into your driveway with very little charge remaining on a car with a 250-mile range, your Level 1 charger would need 50 hours to bring your car to full charge. With a Level 2 charger, your vehicle would be fully charged in 11 hours—still possible during non-peak hours.
